Conservation Breeding Program (in-situ and ex-situ )

The Conservation Breeding Programme has been increasingly considered as a very important discipline of biodiversity conservation. It is a science of conserving a species by averting a species population collapse in the wild due to a large scale eliminative pressures, for example - poaching, illegal trade, rapid habitat loss & fragmentation of natural distribution, industrialization, climate change etc. With the current rate of habitat fragmentation and its impact on animal populations, species conservation over the long term will increasingly require management to reduce risk of extinction. This may include both in-situ and ex-situ conservation breeding programs which can support and interact demographically and genetically with wild populations. The aim of the Conservation Breeding Programme is to conserve the genetic diversity of the species and restock or reintroduce the species to re-establish self-sustaining population in its natural wild habitat.

The consultants at the EnviroEyes have been involved in many such ventures including both in-situ and ex-situ conservation programs in the region. Our expertise can be hired to plan, design and run such Conservation Breeding Programme both at government and other agency level.
